Stave race in Galtür
A fun experience!
Stave race: every Tuesday from 8.30 p.m. at Gampele
Staves are the vertical planks of wood on a barrel. They are used for this skiing competition. Very simple straps are used to attach them. The race participants use them as skis and do a slalom race. People are bound to fall over. And the audience roars with laughter.
NIGHT-TIME SKIING
Every Wednesday from 7.30 to 10.30 p.m. in Galtür
If you are interested in a very special kind of skiing experience, you must give this a go. Nighttime skiing with the mighty Ballunspitze as a backdrop is a special kind of experience. The 2.2-kilometre ski slope has bright daylight, even in bad weather.
Alpinarium Galtür
The Alpinarium Galtür was set up after the avalanche disaster on 23 February 1999. The back wall of the building serves as an avalanche protection wall. In addition to the permanent exhibition "Ganz oben" (at the very top), the terrible catastrophe of 1999 is showcased in a very impressive way.
Carriage rides
A truly romantic holiday must include a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh. It allows you to enjoy the magnificent Silvretta scenery in entirely unexpected ways. You can book your outing in Ischgl or in Galtür.
Tobogganing evening
Did you know that Ischgl has one of the longest illuminated toboggan runs in the Alps? Every Monday and Thursday you can use this diverse run from 7 p.m. Weather permitting, the toboggan evenings are held from mid-December to the beginning of April. Please note that the cableway ride is not included with the normal ski pass.
Cross-country skiing
If you want to improve your fitness levels, we recommend cross-country skiing in the mountains. Gliding along in an even rhythm really gets you going, the fresh mountain air makes you feel great, and working off the calories this way is fun. The cross-country trail from Ischgl to Galtür is considered one of the most beautiful in the high mountain ranges.
Duty-free shopping
As you probably know, the Ischgl ski region stretches all the way to Switzerland, which means that you can ski down to the duty-free zone in Samnaun in Switzerland. There you can buy fashion brands, luxury goods, jewellery and tobacco products at discount prices. Please observe the import regulations. The ski region has border controls.
